Hospital Removes Feeding Tube From Brain-Damaged President
The following is a fake news story I wrote during my Journalism class last semester. Just for fun I decided to put it up to share with everyone. This is probably about as close to writing a fanfic as I'll ever get. ^_^
CRAWFORD, Texas - At 9:53 a.m., Central Standard Time, doctors at the Foxworthy Memorial Hospital removed the feeding tube that had been keeping President George W. Bush alive for the last four and a half years.
Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara expressed their relief at the decision.
“It’s been a very painful experience for our family,” said the former president during a press conference. “Every time we came see him, he would have the same vacant look on his face, and we could tell that nobody was home.”
In the final days leading up to the decision to remove the President’s feeding tube, protestors began gathering outside the hospital, claiming that the process of starvation is slow, sometimes taking up to two weeks. Three people were arrested after trying to sneak into the hospital with bags of pretzels to speed up the process.
“It’s a heartbreaking case, not only in its own right, but because it also underscores a larger problem facing our country,” said Dr. Moore, head of the president’s surgical team. “A poll taken in 2004 shows that as many as 51 percent of Americans may suffer similar brain damage.”
“It is time to move forward,” said Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “We need to let the healing begin.”
Dean then added, “YEEAAAHHH!!!”
