Listen, Little Man

Before anything else, let me make something clear.

First and foremost, I am not an idiot. Or, a the very least, I am not as big an idiot as most people. I am well aware of the fact that Kikouken.com does not exactly carry a great deal of influence in the world of politics. I don't expect anyone in the White House to lose an iota of sleep over this article. "Oh no! We lost the backing of Gilgamesh! We should have never messed with the devastating political force of Kikouken.com!" I'm writing this strictly for my own peace of mind. Why? Because I love America, and I hate George W. Bush. I hate him more than I have ever hated anybody else in my entire life. I'm not just embarassed to belong to a country that would let this fool keep his job. I'm embarrassed just to be living in the same historical period as him.

To My Fellow Democrats

In his concession speech, John Kerry encouraged his supporters not to give up. Our time will come, he said. Don't believe him. It's as big a crock of shit as anything that's come from the White House in the last four years. The choice in this election was obvious. Painfully, painfully obvious. So obvious the rest of the world overwhelmingly supported Kerry. But yet, Bush won. Did he win fairly? There's no substantial evidence to say he didn't, and even if there was, it wouldn't matter. Now, I would love to believe that somehow the Republicans fudged the numbers and Kerry is the true victor, but listen to me now. Whether or not Kerry had the most votes doesn't matter. Regardless of how Bush won, America's fucked. If he won legitimatly, we're fucked because 51% of our voting public is too stupid to see the clear choice. If Bush won illegitimately, we're fucked because it means the system of American politics and law has gone corrupt beyond repair. Either the American people are too dumb to realize an obvious choice, or our government is too corrupt to obey their most basic function which is to listen to the will of its people.

To the Red States

Health care, the environment, labor protection, keeping Corporate America in check, dependence on foreign oil, fiscal responsibility, freedom of privacy, freedom of choice, international credibility... Everything Bush does from now on is entirely your fault. You let it happen. We should have let you Bible-thumping, xenophobic, gun-loving, gay-bashing, constitution-ignoring rednecks go off and form your own country when we had the chance. Now you own us.

Do you people in the Red States EVER get tired of being wrong!? Be it slavery, the civil right movement, or the elections of Richard Nixon and George W. Bush, every time this nation is divided it comes down to the Blue States Vs the Red States, and every single time YOU have been the villains, and history proves it! Mark my words, history will prove it again.

You who voted for Bush, not just in the Red States but all across this country: You are dead to me. Every last one of you. First chance I get, I'm moving to Canada. Until then, sure, I'll still make light conversation with you, I'll pass you the salt at the dinner table, I'll hold open doors for you, and I'll bite my tongue when you make a passing remark about our President's visionary leadership. But only because I have to. To spend every waking moment of my life choosing whom I interact with based on which candidate they supported in this election would accomplish nothing and serve no purpose but my own destruction.

Are you there, God? It's me, Gilgamesh

I have a little something I'd like to say to Bush's biggest non-corporate supporters, the Christian Right. You are the worst of them all. The upper-class, the big corporations, they understand this issues, they just choose to ignore them and vote for Republicans because of personal greed. But you, you vote "your conscience." You think America's moral fiber is deteriorating and a God-fearing man like George W. Bush will set things right, regardless of what the Constitution says about the seperation of church and state. Never mind the fact that this utopian yesteryear you long for never actually existed, or that the man you call the Son of God was a liberal! You heard me right. Jesus was a liberal. Jesus wanted people to look after one another like brothers and to be tolerant of those that our society labels as sinners. He was a great man who preached of freedom and goodwill, and didn't judge anybody.

If Jesus and Satan ran against each other for President, who would win? Satan would, hands down. Why? Because Satan would tell you what you want to hear and pretend everything will be all right even when it's not. He would pin some ludicrous, baseless accusation on Jesus (such as, "flip-flop") and Jesus's response would not be to rebut the arguement with facts but to smile and forgive those who shouted it at him. Satan would bury Jesus in a monumenal landslide.

It's painfully obvious who runs this country now, and because of that I fully intend to leave this country as soon as I possibly can. Was the American public too stupid to vote Bush out of office, or is the system of politics and law, founded by my ancestors, "those goddamn New England liberals," now so corrupt that it ignores the will of the people? It doesn't matter now, because either way, America is fucked, and I don't want to be here when what's going to go down goes down. And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe nothing will happen and Bush leads the country into a golden age of prosperity, and I truly hope he does. But I would bet my life that he can't even come close. I've certainly seen nothing to suggest he will. America will pay for the decision it made this year, and I'm not talking about just threats of terrorism. When your job is outsourced, your unemployment benefits run out, and you have to choose between eating and taking your medicine, don't blame me. I voted for Senator John Kerry.
