![]() Last update: 8/17/02 -The Cast- The heroes of the game include the five biggest CCA heroes, Chun-Li, Alucard, Aya Brea, Tifa Lockeheart, and Dan Hibiki, and two newcomers, Millenia and Alex. Like any good RPG, each character has different abilities and unique contributions to make to the fight. To understand the roles of each character plays in a fight, it helps to be familiar with the various classes we often see in Final Fantasy games, particularly FFV and FF Tactics. If you aren't very well aquainted with the "old school" Final Fantasies, well, you'll just have to rough it 'till the game's done. Tough.
Class: Fighter Attack: Great Skills Kikouken -Holy elemental magic attack on one enemy Unlike most RPG heroes, Chun-Li is not the perfectly well-rounded, jack-of-all-trades type of character. Instead, she is very much like the Monk class in FF Tactics. She'll be fast, powerful, and have a very well-rounded arsenal of moves her disposal. She will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the team, however, she won't be able to take as many hits as most of her comrades. Chun-Li is, of course, the hero of the RPG. The game's story is also her story. After the attack on her and Alucard, further events bring Chun-Li to the conclusion that something is indeed out of place and she sets out to find the source of the recent attacks. Her travels will pit her against many old foes, plenty of new ones, and her relationships with her own peers will be put to the ultimate test as tensions grow between the members and the heroes of the Crossover Comic Archive. -Alucard- Class: Blue Mage Attack: Good Skills Summon Spirit - non-elemental magic damage to one enemy Blue Magic Skills Heal - Take a wild guess Alucard will have a good variety of offensive and defensive abilities, but he will gain all but two of them by using his Soul Steal ability on various enemies, similar to Kimahri's Lancet skill from FFX, except Soul Steal won't suck. Unlike Blue Mages of FF games, Alucard's Blue Magic will actually be USEFUL. He will also have the best combo attacks of any character in the game, and a nice juicy role in the story. -Millenia- Class: Black Wizard Attack: Average Skills Arrow Shot - Physical Attack, has a good chance of stunning the enemy for one round For those of you who don't know her (and that's probably quite a few of you), Millenia is from Grandia II, one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Anyway, the only reason Millenia has never appeared in any of my comics is, because Grandia II doesn't have even a fraction of the fan base as "mainstream" RPGs like Final Fantasy, pictures and artwork of Millenia are very rare. The best way I can think to describe Millenia is a hybrid of the best parts about Morrigan Aensland and the best parts about Shayla Shayla. She's very sensual and VERY short-tempred. ^_^ Millenia initially appears in the game as a bossy and spoiled demon from the underworld who is quick to lose her temper at somebody who irritates her. Despite her hellish origins and short temper, Millenia eventually proves to be a good person at heart. Millenia's role in the game should be an interesting one. After the attack on the CCTS, Chun-Li and Alucard set out to stop the forces behind the assault. Not long into their journey, they meet Millenia, and the three of them will make up your party for the next mission or two, until Aya rejoins the party and you have a choice of who to take. As a party member, Millenia has quite a nasty list of attack spells that she will use to fry, freeze, and explode her enemies with. -Aya- Class: White Mage Attack: Average Skills Heal - Restores HP Although she won't be as weak as white mages typically are, Aya will be lacking in offensive power compared to the others. I think a white mage role actually suits Aya pretty well, since most of the Parasite Energy skills she learns are white magic-type spells (in fact, Liberation, her ultimate attack, is kinda like the Holy spell cast by White Mages). So she's the white mage. So there. Aya is the only member of the CCTS to permantly join Chun-Li's team. She joins Chun-Li and Alucard briefly during the mission to save the CCTS, and she rejoins the group as a regular after they return from the third mission. As their mission first begins, Aya does not have a terribly important role in the plotline. However, as the journey progresses and tensions in the ranks of the CCA's elite continue to rise, Aya is forced into the spotlight as she finds herself caught in the middle of an increasingly hostile conflict. -Tifa- Class: Chemist & Thief Attack: Good Skills Steal - Steals an item from an enemy, duh! In FF7, Tifa's role was that of the brawling martial arts character. Unfortunately we've got a little bit of a clash here, because that's Chun-Li's role now. So instead, I used the fact that she mixes drinks for a living and made her a chemist. In the game, she can mix drinks and serve them to her allies (or her enemies) for various effects. Being the only character to be able to use these skills, needless to say, she can come in handy. And just in case you happen to run out of supplies for Tifa in the middle of a mission, we also hope to give Tifa the ability to steal items, most of which will be related to her Chemist skills. So basically, she'll be a lot like Rikku from Final Fantasy X, except without the piss-poor offensive power. No sir, Tifa will definitely be a useful fighter in battle. Tifa, no offense to you diehard Lockheart fans out there, is probably one of the least important characters to the game's plotline. Doesn't mean she won't get plenty of screentime, mind you! It just won't be terribly important towards the advancement of the plot. Tifa joins about a third of the way into the game, after you've already completed four or five missions. Once she joins the party, she will probably never leave. -Alex- Class: Knight Attack: Great Skills Flashy Attack - deals physical damage Alex is a delusional 16-year-old whose hometown was destroyed by flamers. He believes that HE is the hero of the RPG, and constantly tries to act as the team's leader. He makes numberous attempts to romance Aya (since she's the white mage of the party) which always result in a humilating rejection, and often looks for trouble when there's absolutely none to be found. In battle, Alex acts similar to the knight class in most RPGs. He's all about physical strength. He can give and take a lot of physical damage, but he'll be one of the last party members to attack and he can't give or withstand much in the way of magic attacks. -Dan- Class: Mediator Attack: Good Taunt - Restores a little MP to the whole party Dan has various Talk Skills like FF Tactic's Mediator class that can boost various stats of his peers and enemies, as well as boost his own MP and inflict various status effects on his enemies. His weapons include things like a megaphone, a sign post, a Nerf Ballzooka, and the infamous "Saikyo Magnet!" ^_^ Dan once owned a whole chain of Saikyo dojos all across the world, but after losing a battle with Segata Sanshiro, he was kicked out of his own dojo and all the others around the world were taken over by Segata's diciples. Now he travels with the heroes not just to help save the CCA, but to perfect his style, retake his dojos all across the world from Segata's diciples, and finally back to the main dojo to defeat Segata himself. Dan is the last character to join the team. Like most joke characters, Dan's role in the plot is mostly comic relief. He really doesn't do anything that serves to advance the plot, but considering the humor level in this game aims to be high, Dan should still get plenty of airtime, despite his being the last member to join. -Charlie- Class: Knight Attack: Great Somersault Kick - Deals physical damage to the enemy Charlie is a temporary character is identical to Alex and joins the team for only one or two missions (before Alex joins, duh). Now, I don't want to spoil anything, but there IS the possibility that Charlie may die in this game. ^_^ [ Main Site ] |
